Overview of Master Palo Alto Firewall - Beginner to Advanced - Part-2

Modern enterprise networks require more than basic firewall policies. Security engineers must design highly available, well-monitored, and securely connected environments that support remote users, multiple sites, and cloud deployments. Master Palo Alto Firewall – Beginner to Advanced – Part-2 is designed to take you beyond the fundamentals and equip you with the advanced skills required to manage Palo Alto firewalls in real-world production environments.

This course builds directly on the foundation established in Part-1 and focuses on advanced Palo Alto firewall features that are critical for enterprise, data center, and cloud deployments. You will learn how to monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain firewall operations, ensure high availability, and securely connect networks using VPN technologies.

The course begins with Palo Alto logging and monitoring, where you will learn how to analyze traffic, threat, system, and configuration logs. You will explore monitoring tools such as the Application Command Center (ACC), log filtering techniques, reporting, and log forwarding for centralized visibility and troubleshooting.

You will then dive deep into Palo Alto High Availability (HA), covering both Active/Passive and Active/Active deployment models. The course explains HA architecture, control and data plane synchronization, failover behavior, session handling, and best practices to ensure minimal downtime in production networks.

A major focus of this course is VPN implementation, including site-to-site IPsec VPNs and remote access VPNs using GlobalProtect. You will learn how to design, configure, and troubleshoot secure VPN connections, understand IKE phases, crypto profiles, tunnel interfaces, routing considerations, and common VPN issues encountered in enterprise environments.

The course also covers Palo Alto interface types and deployment modes, including Layer 3, Layer 2, Virtual Wire (V-Wire), TAP mode, and subinterfaces. Each mode is explained with practical use cases to help you choose the correct deployment strategy based on security, performance, and network design requirements.

Finally, you will learn how to deploy Palo Alto VM-Series firewalls in cloud environments, with a focus on AWS. Topics include cloud deployment architectures, routing integration, security zones, logging considerations, and best practices for securing cloud workloads.

This course is designed to be practical, real-world focused, and enterprise-oriented, making it ideal for engineers who want to confidently design, deploy, and troubleshoot advanced Palo Alto firewall solutions.
